TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government and the United Nations (UN) jointly launched commemorative postal stamps and special tokens to celebrate 75 years of Indonesia-UN collaboration and friendship.
The postal stamps and tokens were launched by the Director General for Multilateral Cooperation at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Tri Tharyat, and the UN Resident Coordinator in Indonesia, Gita Sabharwal, during the UN Day 2025 celebration in Jakarta on Friday, October 24, 2025.
"These stamps and token tell the story of Indonesia’s proud role in peacekeeping and diplomacy," said Director General Tri Tharyat in his speech as quoted by Antara.
He appreciated the Ministry of Communication and Digital and the Indonesian postal company, Pos Indonesia, for their regular participation in UN Day celebrations through the publication of commemorative stamps.
"We also published one last year, as well as the years before that," he added.
Meanwhile, Gita Sabharwal said the token launched alongside the commemorative postal stamps symbolizes the enduring partnership between Indonesia and the UN.
"This token is tangible and is a symbol of our eternal journey together. Forged from this land, shaped by our partnership, and nurtured to be enduring," said Gita.
The stamp depicts Indonesia's first President Soekarno's arrival in Jakarta in 1949, after recognition of sovereignty by the Netherlands and before accession to the UN on September 28, 1950.
The avant-garde style stamp has a dynamic and colorful background, reflecting Indonesia's spirit to participate in global cooperation and friendship.
Meanwhile, the commemorative token is made of copper and zinc smelted in Indonesia, circular in shape with a diameter of about 5 cm, and coated with blue-gold plating on both sides.
The front side shows the white UN emblem with a gold background, surrounded by the words "75 Years Indonesia-UN" and the silhouette of a dove with a blue background.
The back of the token is decorated with carvings of gunungan wayang and a pair of wings surrounded by illustrated clouds.
