TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Central Java has forecast a significant rise in gasoline engine fuel consumption in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday.

“We estimate that daily gasoline engine fuel consumption will rise by 30.3 percent to 16,863 kiloliters, compared with the normal average of 12,943 kiloliters,” said Executive General Manager Fanda Chrismianto on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Fanda noted that Pertamax Turbo is expected to see the largest surge in demand at 55.3 percent, followed by Pertalite at 30.2 percent, and Pertamax at 29.7 percent.

In contrast, diesel engine fuel (gasoil) consumption is projected to drop by 10.3 percent, from 7,069 kiloliters to 6,340 kiloliters per day.

“The decrease in diesel usage is directly linked to the Ministry of Transportation’s restrictions on freight transport during the Eid al-Fitr travel period from March 13 to 29, 2026,” Fanda explained.

With the holiday period coinciding with other national holidays, Fanda emphasized the importance of ensuring sufficient fuel supplies. Eid al-Fitr, falling on March 21-22, comes shortly after Nyepi on March 18-19. “We are therefore increasing stocks of gasoline, LPG, and Avtur at all supply points,” he said.

Pertamina has mapped peak travel periods in two waves: March 14-15 and March 18-20, 2026. Fuel distribution will rely on support from the one-way system on the Trans-Java toll road, spanning KM 70 Cikampek to KM 421 Semarang-Solo.

Supply & Distribution Region Manager Priyo Djatmiko added that household LPG consumption is also expected to rise by 9 percent to 5,293 metric tons per day during the Ramadan-Eid period.

To meet the increased demand, Pertamina has added an 8.33 percent allocation equivalent to 3,145,050 cylinders, which will be distributed gradually.

“We also have a total allocation of 5,902,480 LPG cylinders to prepare for higher demand during Eid and Nyepi,” Priyo said.

For 3 kg LPG cylinders, Pertamina has prepared an additional total allocation of 37.7 million cylinders across Central Java to ensure adequate supply throughout the holiday season.
