
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron will visit the Military Academy (Akmil) Magelang and Borobudur Temple on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
According to the official statement from the Presidential Secretariat's Press, Media, and Information Bureau, Prabowo has arrived at Yogyakarta International Airport, Kulon Progo, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
After landing, President Prabowo is scheduled to personally welcome the arrival of President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron, who arrived in Yogyakarta for a state visit to Indonesia.
From the airport, the two heads of state will then depart together using a helicopter to the Military Academy (Akmil) Magelang. At the military education institution, President Prabowo and President Macron will inspect the facilities, have a dialogue with the cadets, and have lunch together.
After the agenda at Akmil, President Prabowo and President Macron are scheduled to continue their journey to Borobudur Temple. President Macron's visit to Indonesia is expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and France, which has been established in various sectors.
Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to Yogyakarta are Didit Hediprasetyo, Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Earlier, President Prabowo received French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
In the meeting, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that he would push for the independence of the Palestinian state at a high-level two-state solution conference in New York, United States, in June 2025.
In the conference, Macron said that France and Saudi Arabia would provide new impetus for the recognition of the Palestinian state, including recognition of Israel to live in peace and security in the Middle East region.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto stated that he would recognize Israel if they gave recognition to Palestine as a sovereign state. Prabowo also said that the Indonesian government was ready to guarantee the security of Israel after recognizing Palestine as an independent state.
