TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto convened regional leaders from Papua, Papuan community figures, and members of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development for Papua at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Ribka Haluk, a member of the executive committee and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, said the meeting was attended by six provincial governors and 42 regents from across Papua. She said President Prabowo was expected to deliver policy directions and hold dialogue with the regional leaders.
“The dialogue between the President, governors, and regents is important. However, the main objective is to harmonize central government programs and policies aimed at accelerating development in Papua,” Ribka said upon arriving at the palace complex.
Ribka added that the executive committee had recently launched the Master Plan for the Acceleration of Papua Development (RIPP) in cooperation with the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). The plan is expected to serve as a roadmap for coordinated development efforts in the region.
Papua Governor Mathius Fakhiri said the province requires accelerated development across multiple sectors. He expressed hope that the meeting would enable President Prabowo to directly address the needs and concerns of Papuan communities.
“We hope the President, who cares deeply about the people of Papua, can respond to the issues raised by the governors,” Fakhiri said.
President Prabowo is scheduled to outline strategic steps for accelerating Papua’s development and provide guidance to regional leaders, committee members, and Papuan representatives during the meeting.
Separately, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said the President is keen to move swiftly to accelerate development in Papua.
Speaking after a meeting with the executive committee and Papuan regional leaders at the Home Affairs Ministry on Monday, December 15, Tito said the President would deliver his directives on Tuesday afternoon.
Tito added that the meeting would be held at the office of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). Discussions will focus on aligning roles and strengthening coordination among stakeholders involved in advancing development in Papua.
