TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The draw for the men's football matches at the 2025 SEA Games was conducted in Bangkok, Thailand, on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Based on the results, the Indonesia U-23 national team occupies Group C along with Myanmar, the Philippines, and Singapore.
As quoted from the Thai Football Association page in Jakarta, the host team, Thailand, is in Group A, which also includes Cambodia and Timor Leste. Meanwhile, Group B also consists of three teams: Vietnam, Malaysia, and Laos.
In the early preparations for the SEA Games 2025, the young Garudas, managed by head coach Indra Sjafri, held the first central training session in Jakarta with 32 players from October 3-14, 2025. During this session, there were two friendly matches against India, with the first match resulting in a 1-2 loss and the next one ending in a 1-1 draw.
Indra, who successfully led the Indonesian football team to victory at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, will conduct another central training session in November to finalize the team's preparations. He will then select 23 players to be brought to Thailand to compete in the 2025 SEA Games scheduled for December 9-20.
Kadek Arel and his teammates are determined to win the gold medal once again, just like in the previous edition. At that time, Indonesia emerged as the champion after defeating Thailand in the final with a score of 5-2 in a 120-minute match.
Indra has the opportunity to make new history in Indonesian football by becoming the coach who successfully leads the Young Garudas to win the SEA Games for the second consecutive time if he can guide his team to victory at the 2025 SEA Games. Previously, he ended a 32-year wait for a championship title in this event after the last victory in 1991.
The 2025 SEA Games in Thailand will take place in three regions: Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.
