TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jeju Tourism Organization recommends seven ways to enjoy the autumn season on Jeju Island, South Korea. The autumn season on the island provides a unique experience, with cooler weather and golden sunsets that turn the island's beaches red.
With the theme "Jeju's Autumn Enjoyed in My Own Way," these recommendations are tailored to various travel styles and personal preferences. The organization stated, "Capture Jeju's autumn at your own pace and in your own way. We hope you create valuable memories from your autumn travel experiences in Jeju," as reported by Chosun Daily.
Below are seven ways to enjoy the autumn season on Jeju Island:
1. Cultural Travelers
For cultural travelers, they can take part in walking tours exploring Jeju's myths and traditional festivals. Known as the home of around 18,000 gods, Jeju celebrates its myths and culture through various autumn festivals. Visitors can experience traditional rituals, or gut, and meet the local community through various events such as the Jeju Batdam Festival (November 1-2) and the Jeju Olle Walking Festival (November 6-8).
2. Fitness Seekers
For fitness seekers, they can partake in healing tours with their pets. For instance, walking through the hills, forests, and fields of Jeju allows tourists to absorb the island's natural energy with their furry companions.
There are pet-friendly facilities, from accommodations with spacious gardens to Hamdeok Beach, the island's first beach designed specifically for dogs. Other recommended places include Oedolgae, Sanyang Keuneongot, and Hamdog Beach.
3. Nature Lovers
For nature lovers, Jeju's autumn oreums (volcanic cones) offer stunning views under clear skies and gentle sunlight. Silver grass sways in the wind, creating silver ripples on the hills. Some famous locations include Ttarabi Oreum, Saebyeol, and Darangshi, as reported by Korea Times.
4. Shopaholics
On Jeju Island, shopaholics can explore pop-up stores that combine Jeju's local identity with globally recognized brands. From Crayon Shin-chan themed stores to Pokmon pop-ups at Yeomiji Botanical Garden, each offers unique limited edition items that blend Jeju's creativity with global appeal.
5. Foodies
Food enthusiasts can begin a journey of savoring desserts in Jeju, tasting everything from orange peel sweets and stone-shaped desserts to traditional Jeju omegitteok rice cakes.
6. Adventure Enthusiasts
For adventurers, the organization offers running routes where travelers can directly feel the autumn breeze on Jeju. The 5-kilometer route from Iho Tewoo Beach to Dodubong near Jeju International Airport offers seascape views, while the 2.5-kilometer Gwakji Beach to Handam Beach and the 5-kilometer Yongduam to Dodubong routes are very popular during sunset.
7. Photography Buffs
Finally, for photography enthusiasts, there are numerous beautiful spots on Jeju. Grass fields, coastal paths, and flower trails on the island are ideal for "life photos" and romantic wedding photography. On rainy days, fog and soft light create a more atmospheric ambiance.
