TEMPO INFO - From May 17 to 21, Huang Jianguang, President of Foshan Polytechnic, led a delegation to Indonesia to promote cooperation and exchanges under Guangdong’s Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic initiative. During the visit, Foshan Polytechnic also held its first vocational education seminar in Indonesia.

Focusing on key areas such as intelligent manufacturing, e-commerce, “Chinese Language + Vocational Skills” training, and the cultivation of localized skilled talent, the delegation engaged with Indonesian universities, chambers of commerce, and Chinese-funded enterprises. The visit aimed to better align Guangdong’s vocational education resources with Indonesia’s growing industrial development needs.

During the five-day visit, the delegation signed three memoranda of understanding (MoUs), established five cooperation platforms, hosted an overseas vocational education seminar, and conducted a special training session on “AI + Cross-border E-commerce” with partners including Midea’s Indonesia base, Bangpu Recycling Technology Indonesia Region, Padjadjaran University, Hasanuddin University, and Bakrie University.

Multiple MoUs Signed to Promote the Development of Cooperation Platforms in Indonesia

One of the key highlights of the visit was the opening ceremony of the China-Indonesia E-commerce Training Program, which brought together more than 100 representatives from Indonesian government agencies, universities, industry organizations, enterprises, and vocational colleges from Guangdong.

Participants exchanged views on e-commerce, skills training, and training-base development, helping strengthen cooperation between China and Indonesia in vocational education and industry.

In his speech, President Huang Jianguang highlighted Foshan Polytechnic’s efforts to support regional industrial development, advance the internationalization of vocational education, promote the development of Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic—Guangdong Province’s overseas vocational education initiative—and strengthen its international vocational education brand, Kung Fu Workshop

Launched by Foshan Polytechnic in 2024, Kung Fu Workshop serves as an important platform for the institution’s overseas vocational education cooperation and the development of Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic.

President Huang said Foshan Polytechnic is leveraging Foshan’s strong manufacturing base and responding to the overseas expansion needs of Guangdong enterprises by exploring new pathways for vocational education to support Chinese industries going global.

He noted that the institution will use Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic and Kung Fu Workshop as key platforms to bring courses, standards, faculty resources, training programs, and technical services overseas together with Chinese enterprises, providing strong support for China-Indonesia industrial cooperation and localized skilled talent development.

During the event, Foshan Polytechnic signed an MoU with Midea’s Indonesia base and Padjadjaran University. The agreement will support the joint development of a Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic Indonesia Training Base with Midea’s Indonesia base and a Kung Fu Workshop Overseas Practice Base with Padjadjaran University.

Foshan Polytechnic also signed an MoU with Bangpu Recycling Technology Indonesia Region and Hasanuddin University. The cooperation will support the joint development of another Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic Indonesia Training Base with Bangpu Recycling Technology Indonesia Region and a Kung Fu Workshop Overseas Practice Base with Hasanuddin University.

The partnership covers joint talent cultivation, curriculum development, faculty training, practical training-base construction, student exchanges, and skills training.

The agreements further expand Foshan Polytechnic’s vocational education cooperation network in Indonesia and represent important progress in the international development of Guangdong’s Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic.

Vocational Education Seminar Held to Empower Digital and Intelligent E-commerce Talent Development

As part of the visit, the delegation organized the China-Indonesia Seminar on Digital and Intelligent International E-commerce Talent Development at IPB University, also known as Bogor Agricultural Institute.

The seminar focused on e-commerce talent development, digital economy development, university-enterprise collaborative education, local talent demand, and the building of a sustainable cooperation ecosystem. More than 50 representatives from over 10 Indonesian universities, vocational high schools, and Chinese-funded enterprises in Indonesia attended the event.

Participants exchanged views on talent development pathways for digital and intelligent e-commerce, university-enterprise cooperation models, curriculum resource development, and enterprise talent requirements.

The exchanges provided the delegation with deeper insights into talent cultivation practices at Indonesian educational institutions and the localized employment needs of Chinese-funded enterprises in Indonesia.

The discussions also laid the groundwork for building a collaborative “college-enterprise-college” cooperation mechanism and supporting Indonesia’s digital economy and industrial development.

Enterprise Visits and Training Activities Support Localized Talent Development

During the visit, President Huang led the delegation to the Indonesia-China Business Council, Midea Refrigerator Division’s Indonesia base, and the Indonesian Guangdong Chamber of Commerce.

The delegation conducted an in-depth assessment of the demand for localized skilled talent among Chinese enterprises, particularly Guangdong-based companies investing and operating in Indonesia.

At Midea Refrigerator Division’s Indonesia base, the delegation learned about the company’s overseas production layout, factory construction and operations, local employee recruitment and training, and talent competency requirements.

Company representatives said demand remains high for skilled local workers in areas such as equipment maintenance, process operations, and production management.

President Huang said Foshan Polytechnic has long supported the development of Foshan’s advanced manufacturing industry and maintained strong partnerships with leading enterprises.

He added that the institution will further align with the overseas development needs of enterprises and explore cooperation in localized skilled talent training, intelligent manufacturing technology training, e-commerce, and interdisciplinary talent development, enabling vocational education resources to better support enterprises’ overseas growth.

As part of the visit, a special training session on “AI + Cross-border E-commerce” was delivered to more than 100 Indonesian teachers and students through both online and offline formats. The session was led by Huang Youjun, Dean of the School of Economics and Management of Foshan Polytechnic, and Zhu Jiadong, Associate Professor of the School of Electronic Information.

The training focused on the application of AI in cross-border e-commerce, localized operations, and practical business scenarios, closely aligned with industry trends and student learning needs.

During the session, Indonesian teachers and students actively raised questions on AI-assisted product selection, product copywriting generation, localized operations, and other cross-border e-commerce scenarios, engaging in in-depth discussions with the lecturers.

The visit marked an important step in Foshan Polytechnic’s efforts to implement high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and advance the international development of vocational education.

It also aimed to promote the development of Guangdong’s Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic and strengthen the international profile of Foshan Polytechnic’s overseas vocational education brand, Kung Fu Workshop.

By adopting a model in which “enterprises identify needs, colleges provide solutions, and chambers of commerce build bridges,” Foshan Polytechnic has explored a new pathway for vocational education to support enterprises’ overseas development.

Looking ahead, Foshan Polytechnic said it will continue to support the overseas development needs of Guangdong enterprises, promote the international sharing of curriculum standards, training programs, and technical services, and further strengthen Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic and Kung Fu Workshop as important platforms for China-Indonesia vocational education cooperation.
