TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, stated that India will provide technical guidance for free nutritious meals in Indonesia to improve service quality. Dadan said before starting the free nutritious meals program, the BGN indeed visited India to observe the role model of the free meal program there.
"I believe that the technical guidance from India will help improve the quality of the free nutritious meals program in Indonesia," Dadan said at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, October 30, 2025.
Dadan said the collaboration with India will focus on supervision, improving service quality, and developing institutions.
President Prabowo Subianto led a limited meeting with the Red and White Cabinet ministers at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The meeting addressed the progress of the implementation of the national priority program in various fields. It also served as a forum for the president to monitor the achievements and progress of ongoing programs directly.
During the meeting, the Head of the National Nutrition Body also reported to the President on the progress of the free nutritious meals program. Dadan reported that, as of now, there are 13,514 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG/kitchen) spread across several regions of the country.
"Alhamdulillah, today we have reported that there are 13,514 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units spread across 38 provinces, 509 regencies, and 7,022 districts, potentially serving 39.5 million. Insha Allah, by the end of this month, we may already be serving 40 million," he said.
As for the absorption of the free nutritious meals program budget, Dadan mentioned that it has reached half of the allocated budget. "Today, the absorption of nutritious meals has reached 35.6 trillion, covering 50.1 percent," he continued.
The head of BGN also expressed optimism about reaching the target number of beneficiaries of the free nutritious meals program by the end of the year. "We will continue to pursue the target until the end of the year. Hopefully, we can serve 82.9 million beneficiaries by the end of the year," he said.
Dadan's optimism is based on the implementation of the free nutritious meals program in the field, such as the increasing number of SPPGs added every day. According to Dadan, the government can currently establish 200 new SPPGs per day, which could potentially serve 600,000 beneficiaries daily.
"We will pursue this in the last two months to reach 82.9 million. The president will appreciate it, even if, for example, let's say we can achieve 75 million," he said.
