Bali Police Name 6 Foreigners as Suspects in Ukrainian Kidnapping Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bali Regional Police has unveiled the kidnapping case of a Ukrainian national. The victim, IK, has yet to be found thus far, as confirmed by Bali Regional Police Public Relations Head Commissioner Ariasandy, adding that six people have been named as suspects.

Four of the suspects fled the country through the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, while two others were suspected to remain within Indonesian territory.

"The six suspects are foreign nationals," said Ariasandy in Denpasar on Friday, February 27, 2026.

The kidnapping took place on Jalan Jimbaran Kusel Badung, Bali, on Sunday, February 15, 2026. The Bali police also work closely with the Indonesian National Police's international relations to issue a wanted list and a Red Notice to Interpol.

The alleged kidnappers' identities were revealed through surveillance camera footage and a car rental place, as well as the mobility of two motorcycles near where the victim stayed in Bali.

Investigation showed that an individual with the initial C rented the car using a fake passport. Estimated to be a Nigerian national, C was arrested in West nusa Tenggara on February 23.

But C admitted to being instructed by someone else to rent the Toyota Avanza vehicle for Rp6 million. C claimed to be unaware that the vehicle was rented for kidnapping. Bali police and prosecution still discussed the applicable law to charge C as a suspect.

Police have yet to find the victim, but a ransom video went viral featuring IK, the victim, recorded in a Tabanan villa in Bali. "We also checked the villa, where we found blood. The blood sample is identical with what was found on the vehicle," said Ariasandy.

Based on Immigration data, the victim is expected to remain within Indonesian territory. "We will definitely catch [the victim] leaving," he said, as the victim's data has been recorded by Indonesian immigration.

Regarding the discovery of dismembered body parts at the estuary of the Wos River in Ketewel Beach, Sukawati, Gianyar, on Thursday, the police could not yet confirm whether it belonged to the Ukrainian kidnapping victim. But the police are taking DNA samples from the body and IK's parents to confirm the identity.

"These are two separate cases," he said, adding that investigations for both are underway.

The suspects of the Ukrainian's kidnapping will be charged with Article 450 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, with a maximum of 12 years jailtime. The kidnappers can also be charged with offenses related to the deprivation of liberty, severe assault, and violent theft.
