TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has officially announced the 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with veteran forward Neymar returning to the national team after nearly three years away from international football.

As reported by NDTV, Neymar has not appeared for Brazil since 2023 but is now set to participate in what could become his fourth World Cup campaign.

The Santos star returns as Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 79 international goals and remains one of the squad’s most experienced players ahead of the tournament.

Coach Ancelotti said Neymar’s experience and leadership will be important for Brazil during the World Cup.

“He has improved his fitness. He will be an important player in this World Cup,” Ancelotti said.

The Italian manager also emphasized Neymar’s role in helping maintain the atmosphere inside the squad.

“He has experience in this kind of competition, the love of our group; he can create a better environment in this group,” he added.

Brazil’s attacking line will also feature several of the country’s current stars, including Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha, who are expected to lead the team’s attack during the tournament.

Young talents such as Endrick and Rayan also secured their first World Cup call-ups after impressing throughout the qualification campaign, while Chelsea striker João Pedro was left out of the final squad.

Brazil are scheduled to begin their World Cup campaign against Morocco national football team in New Jersey on June 13 before facing Haiti and Scotland in Group C.

Separately, ANTARA noted that Neymar’s inclusion marks his first national team call-up under Ancelotti since the former Real Madrid coach took over Brazil in May 2025.
