TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jabal Al Lawz in the Tabuk region of Saudi Arabia saw heavy snowfall on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Thick fog covered the plateau while strong winds swept across the area. Temperatures dropped sharply during the storm, reaching a low of -4 degrees Celsius.
As reported by the Saudi Gazette, the first snowfall of 2025 in the Trojena Plateau and parts of Tabuk changed the desert mountains into a winter scene. The snow covered the rugged peaks in the northern part of the country, creating a rare sight for the region.
The snowfall in the Al Lawz Mountains has turned the area into a popular winter site. The white landscape and freezing weather draw many locals and tourists who want to take photos. Despite the dry climate, visitors travel there to enjoy this unique winter experience.
Jabal Al Lawz, which means "almond mountain," stands 2,580 meters above sea level in northwest Saudi Arabia. It is famous for its yearly snow. The mountain offers clear winter views that continue to attract residents from across the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) issued a weather report on Wednesday. Forecasters noted the possibility of light snow and frost in parts of the Tabuk and Hail plateaus. Similar conditions were expected in the northeastern section of the Madinah plateau.
The NCM report also mentioned cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms in the western and southwestern regions. Authorities are monitoring these areas as the weather system moves across the Kingdom.
The weather center warned of moderate to heavy thunderstorms that could cause flash floods. These storms may include hail and strong winds in parts of Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and the Northern Borders.
Finally, moderate rain is expected in parts of Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Hail, and Qassim. Fog may also form in these areas, which could lower visibility for drivers on major roads.
