TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) is investigating the incident involving the crash of the PK-CFX helicopter in Sekadau Regency, West Kalimantan on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
"Currently, KNKT is still in the early stages of the investigation," said the Head of Data, Information, and Public Relations Subdivision of the National Transportation Safety Committee, Anggo Anurogo, when confirmed on Saturday, April 18, 2026. He mentioned that the investigation team is currently collecting data and information in the field.
Anggo did not respond to queries about the indications of the helicopter crash's cause. Further analysis is required.
Prior to this, the Director General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation, Lukman F. Laisa, revealed that the Airbus Helicopter EC 130 T2 was scheduled to fly from the PT Cipta Mahkota Helipad to the PT Graha Agro Nusantara 1 Helipad in the Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Based on the information received, Lukman continued, the aircraft took off at 07:37 Western Indonesian Time. At 08:39 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), the helicopter was detected sending an emergency signal in the Kalimantan Barat forest area.
At 09:15, the aircraft was declared to have lost contact. AirNav Indonesia then issued an emergency notification (DETRESFA) at 10:43 WIB.
A joint search and rescue (SAR) team had located the helicopter crash site on Thursday night. "Based on information from the field, all passengers and crew were declared deceased," said Lukman.
The helicopter crew consisted of pilot Captain Marindra Wibowo and engineer Harun Arasyid. The passengers were identified as Patrick K from Malaysia, Victor T, Charles L, Joko C, Fauzie O, and Sugito. The victims were then evacuated to the Bhayangkara Pontianak Hospital.
