TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian badminton star Jonatan Christie ended his European tour on a high note by winning two titles from three tournaments in the past three weeks, namely the Denmark Open 2025 and the Hylo Open 2025.

His only setback came at the French Open 2025, which was held between the two events.

At the BWF Super 750 Denmark Open held at Jyske Bank Arena, Odense, from October 14 to 19, Jonatan claimed the title after defeating world number one Shi Yu Qi of China 13–21, 21–15, 21–15.

A week later, at the French Open 2025 in Rennes, Jonatan was eliminated in the round of 16 after losing to Japan’s Koki Watanabe in a three-game match, 21–11, 19–21, 23–25.

He bounced back at the Hylo Open 2025 in Saarbrücken, Germany, a BWF Super 500 tournament held from October 28 to November 2, where he defeated Denmark’s Magnus Johannesen 21–14, 21–14 to secure his second title of the European tour.

Jonatan said his recent achievements went beyond expectations.

“These results are beyond what I imagined. My focus was only to give my best and enjoy every match,” said the player affectionately known as Jojo, in a statement released by the PBSI media team on Monday, November 3, 2025.

The victories in Europe came after his triumph at the Korea Open 2025 in late September, his first championship since winning the All England 2024 in March last year.

“There is the hand of God in what I have achieved so far. Winning three titles in the last four tournaments was unimaginable, especially after leaving the national team and going through rehabilitation. I am very grateful,” Jonatan said.

His success in Suwon, where he defeated Denmark’s top seed Anders Antonsen 21–10, 15–21, 21–17 to win the Korea Open Super 500 title, marked a turning point in his comeback from injury.

“This may not be the biggest tournament, but it means a lot to me,” Jonatan said after his victory. “It has been a long process of recovery, injuries, regaining confidence, and finding motivation. Today, it all paid off.”

Jonatan, who is now 28 years old, said his recent form has strengthened his confidence as he prepares for the remaining tournaments of the year and looks ahead to the 2026 season.
