TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rain has blanketed much of the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area this morning, December 18, 2025. A weather advisory from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) indicates the rain intensified starting at 5:50 a.m.

The rain, which initially concentrated in Bogor City and Regency, has since moved north into Depok, South Tangerang, and parts of Tangerang Regency. Forecasters warn that the precipitation could soon encompass the entire Tangerang area, stretching toward the northern coastline.

This weather pattern is expected to settle over all of Depok and South Tangerang, as well as the western half of Jakarta, stretching from South Jakarta to the shores of North Jakarta. BMKG’s current advisory remains in effect through at least 9:00 a.m.

The initial downpours hit Bogor Regency particularly hard, affecting districts such as Citeureup, Sukaraja, Babakan Madang, and Cisarua, Megamendung, Caringin, Cijeruk, Tamansari, Cigombong, and Tenjolaya in Bogor Regency, along with South and East Bogor City.

In its weekly outlook for December 16–22, BMKG noted that Tropical Cyclone Bakung and cyclone seeds 93S and 95S are significantly influencing Indonesia’s climate. While Jakarta is not currently under a "very heavy rain" alert, residents are urged to remain cautious of increased rainfall and strong winds, which are also expected to impact the Banten and West Java regions.
