Police: 62 Protests Held in Jakarta Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The Jakarta Metropolitan Police stated that there were about 62 protest activities in Jakarta today, Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Some of the protests are part of a total of 80 agendas taking place within the jurisdiction of the Jakarta Police. "Consisting of 62 public expression activities and 18 other community activities," said the Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Grand Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in his statement on Thursday.

The public expression activities are scheduled to take place in several locations, including the Parliament (DPR/MPR) Building, the South Silang National Monument (Monas) or across from the Danareksa Building, and the Taman Pandang Silang Monas.

At the same time, there are also various sports, exhibitions, arts and entertainment, organizations, and film production events taking place in several areas. Some of them include the Soeratin U-15 Cup in Klender, the International Battery Summit 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran, the National Gojukai Karatedo Championship at GOR Ciracas, the APKASI Autonomy Expo 2026 at ICE BSD City, and the Danantara Housing Expo 2026 at NICE PIK 2.

A total of 4,274 personnel were prepared to serve the public expression activities at the DPR/MPR Building. "Other personnel were stationed in several locations to support security and traffic regulation as needed," said Budi.

In total, 18,504 personnel are prepared for the protests taking place in several locations in Central Jakarta.

The Chief of the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort, Commissioner General Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, led the security for the action in Zone 1, the Ring 1 area of the DPR/MPR RI. Security measures began at 7 a.m. local time, involving several top officials and commanding officers.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief of the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort, Police Adjunct Chief Commissioner Mirzal Maulana, led the security services for the action in the jurisdiction of the Metro Gambir Police Sector.

The security measures were divided into several zones to anticipate mass concentration.

Zone 2 includes several points around the DPR/MPR complex up to the Semanggi Flyover. Zone 3 covers the SPARK Escape Door, TVRI, Mulia Hotel TL, and Asia-Africa TL.

Furthermore, Zone 4 includes the Pancasila Gate area, while Zone 5 covers the Palmerah Police Post, Palmerah Station, the DPR Mosque, and the LHK Building.

Zone 6 includes the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK RI) area, Community Lane, and Ladokgi Atas.

To anticipate mass movement and its impact on traffic flow, personnel were also deployed in the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout and Dukuh Atas areas.
