TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of State Secretariat, Prasetyo Hadi, stated that President Prabowo Subianto will inaugurate the Police Reform Commission later this week.
"Next week (will be inaugurated this week), it will be announced and inaugurated by the President," said Prasetyo in the Monas area, Jakarta, on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
This Gerindra Party politician refused to disclose the exact time of the inauguration. When asked if there were nine members to be inaugurated, Prasetyo jokingly replied.
"Oh, how did you know? Have you got a leak?" said Prasetyo.
President Prabowo Subianto directly formed the Police Reform Commission to reform the police. Coordinating Minister for Legal Affairs, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, previously stated that he would also join the team. "He (Prabowo) said, Prof (Yusril) is there," said Yusril in a press conference on Friday, September 26, 2025.
In addition, according to Yusril, several constitutional law experts have also been named to join the commission. "Several names have been mentioned as members, including Mahfud Md, Jimly (Asshiddiqie), and others," said Yusril.
Mahfud Md had previously expressed his willingness to join the police reform commission led by President Prabowo. Mahfud stated that Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya had contacted him on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Mahfud and Teddy then met the next day. "From the lengthy discussion, I only conveyed one confirmation, that I agree with all of Pak Prabowo's plans for reform, and I can help in the National Police reform team," said Mahfud in a broadcast on his official YouTube channel.
