TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United Arab Emirates Ambassador Abdulla Salem Aldhaheri stated on Wednesday that the UAE, along with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Jordan, continues to promote peace efforts in the Middle East. "We will also continue to work with international partners, including Indonesia, to promote peace, stability, and shared prosperity," Aldhaheri said on Wednesday evening, April 8, 2026.
Aldhaheri said that under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, intensive communication with world leaders continues. Discussions were held with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to reduce conflict escalation and strengthen global coordination. Leaders of the Gulf region and Jordan have undertaken similar diplomatic efforts, reflecting the shared position of these countries.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is reportedly taking active diplomatic steps with a number of countries. This includes communicating with Indonesia's Foreign Minister, Sugiono.
Aldhaheri revealed that over 130 countries and international organizations have condemned Iran's actions. He said this support is reflected in the ratification of UN Security Council Resolution 2817 and the UN Human Rights Council resolution on the impact of attacks on human rights.
The UAE, along with the GCC countries and Jordan, strongly condemned Iran's attack as a violation of international law and the UN Charter while continuing to prioritize diplomacy. He emphasized the Gulf region's commitment to stability, responsibility, and cooperation instead of escalating conflict.
