TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS) Andrie Yunus has filed a vote of no confidence against the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Military Police HQ handling the acid attack case he experienced. Andrie, who is currently undergoing treatment for his damaged eye, conveyed the motion through a letter addressed to the Judges of the Constitutional Court (MK) and the civilian community on April 5, 2026.
In the letter, Andrie stated to the MK judges that the attempted murder case against him must be thoroughly investigated. Andrie emphasized that the handling of this case is the responsibility of the state so that similar cases do not recur.
According to Andrie, the most important thing is to ensure that anyone, regardless of their background, whether civilian or military, should be tried in a civilian court. "I object and submit a vote of no confidence! If the legal process for this case is conducted through military court," said Andrie Yunus in a letter written by hand and read by Deputy Director of Imparsial Hussein Ahmad after attending a judicial review of the TNI Law in front of the Constitutional Court building on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Andrie's actions are a result of his case, which was initially handled by the General Crime Detective Directorate (Dirkrimum) of the Jakarta Metro Police, being transferred to the TNI Military Police.
Andrie was attacked on Thursday night, March 12, 2026, around 11:37 PM on Salemba I Talang Street, Central Jakarta. Two unknown individuals poured acid on Andrie Yunus, causing burns to over 20 percent of his right body.
The police did not arrest the perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. The TNI Headquarters revealed four suspected perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie. The four soldiers, with the initials NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, are members of the TNI's Air and Navy Detachment (Denma) BAIS.
The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) as Andrie's legal representative reported this case to the Indonesian National Police Criminal Detective Agency (Bareskrim Polri). "We also followed up by making a type B report or a direct report from the victim represented by the Advocacy Team for Democracy," said KontraS Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya in front of the Bareskrim Polri building on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Andrie's lawyer, Airlangga Julio, explained that they filed a planned murder attempt report in accordance with Article 459 jo. Article 17 jo. Article 20 of the Criminal Code (KUHP). They also highlighted allegations of structured terrorism in accordance with Article 600, Article 601, and Article 602 of the Criminal Code. "We want to demand President Prabowo's promise that there is terrorism in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus," said Julio.
In this report, TAUD presented internal investigation findings as evidence to be examined. Among them, findings about 16 individuals suspected of being involved as perpetrators in the acid attack operation on Andrie on March 12, 2026.
Yesterday, members of KontraS and TAUD were questioned by the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) regarding this case. Komnas HAM Commissioner Saurlin P. Siagian said that the institution had sent a letter to the TNI Headquarters to be able to examine the four individuals suspected of attacking Andrie. "We have sent a letter to the TNI to get access to examine the four individuals," said Saurlin at the Komnas HAM office in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
According to Saurlin, Komnas HAM will not only be limited to the four perpetrators released by the TNI. He suspects there are indications of other perpetrators in this case. "Our focus is trying to find information related to the involvement of other parties besides the four individuals who are currently designated as suspects," said Saurlin.
The TNI Military Police Headquarters stated that they had transferred the case files of the four suspects in the planned murder attempt case against activist Andrie Yunus. Head of the Mabes TNI Information Center Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah said the handover process was completed by investigators to the Military Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
"The transfer of case files, suspects, and evidence of criminal acts has been handed over to the Otmil II-07 Jakarta, for further examination of formal and material requirements," said Aulia in a written statement on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
He continued that if the files are found to be complete, the legal process will be continued by the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. Aulia claimed that the handover of files for the four suspects named NDP, SL, BHW, and ES is a commitment of the TNI in professional, transparent, and accountable law enforcement.
