TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that atmospheric dynamics will continue to support increased water vapor supply and the growth of convective clouds in parts of West Java during the week of February 16-22, 2026.

Leni Jantika, a weather forecaster at the BMKG West Java Climatology Station, stated that influencing factors include relatively warm sea surface temperatures in Indonesian waters. Other factors include the predicted continued activity of Kelvin and low-frequency atmospheric waves, and the strengthening of the Asian Monsoon, which brings moist air masses.

"Furthermore, wind bends and convergence areas are forming, supported by high air humidity and light to strong atmospheric lability," she said in a written statement on Sunday, February 15, 2026. These conditions further increase the potential for convective cloud formation on a local scale.

The potential for moderate to very heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds of local scale and short duration on Monday, February 16, covers Bekasi Regency, Bogor Regency, Karawang Regency, Purwakarta Regency, Subang Regency, Cianjur Regency, Sukabumi Regency, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Sumedang Regency, Cirebon Regency, Indramayu Regency, Majalengka Regency, Kuningan Regency, Garut Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency, Ciamis Regency, Banjar City, and Pangandaran.
