TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian soldiers are sought to be ready for peacekeeping and humanitarian forces in Gaza, Palestine, by June 2026, as confirmed by the country's military headquarters.

Head of the Army Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Donny Pramono, said in a written statement on Sunday around 1,000 personnel are expected "to be ready for departure by early April 2026," with overall preparedness for the whole troops targeted no later than June 2026.

Donny clarified that "ready for deployment" does not mean the troops will ship out to Gaza on the exact date, but the soldiers are in such condition that they are ready to be deployed at any time. "The departure schedule still entirely depends on the state's political decision and the applicable international mechanisms," he said.

He conveyed that the Indonesian military has yet to receive the political decision on the date for possible deployment to Gaza. Both TNI and the Ministry of Defense are still awaiting President Prabowo Subianto's decision.

Sending soldiers to Gaza is part of Indonesia's decision to join the International Stabilization Force (ISF), a U.S.-backed initiative as outlined in the United Nations Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi previously stated that the Indonesian troops joining the peacekeeping forces from various countries are aiming to defuse conflict escalation.

"At least, we hope this will bring down the conflict escalation in Gaza to alleviate the suffering of our brothers and sisters," Prasetyo said at Gambir Station, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
