TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia and Egypt discussed expansion on scholarships for Indonesian students and developing cooperation between educational institutions in both countries.

According to a press release from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, July 27, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty discussed this issue on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, Post-Ministerial Conferences and Related Meetings (AMM-PMC) in Manila, Philippines.

The two ministers believed there are opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation, including in trade, investment, industry, education, healthcare, energy, and research between Egypt and Indonesia.

"This is crucial to accelerate the realization of mutually beneficial cooperation between Indonesia and Egypt," said Sugiono, while reaffirming Indonesia's commitment to strengthening the implementation of the Indonesia-Egypt Strategic Partnership through existing bilateral mechanisms.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the Egyptian President's visit to Indonesia, which is expected to generate various concrete achievements that will further strengthen bilateral ties between Indonesia and Egypt.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and global developments and emphasized the importance of resolving various challenges through dialogue, cooperation, and respect for international law.

"As President Prabowo has always stated, Egypt is not merely Indonesia's diplomatic partner, but also a historical partner. Building on this foundation, we look forward to a future of increasingly tight cooperation between Indonesia and Egypt," said Sugiono.
