TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that Indonesia still shows resilience in Quarter I-2026. This is reflected in the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) at 125.2, which is at an optimistic level, as well as foreign exchange reserves of US$151.9 billion, equivalent to six months of imports.
"The government still sees economic growth in the first quarter as good, still capable of reaching or exceeding 5.5 percent," said Airlangga in a written statement on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
From a financial perspective, Airlangga mentioned that the government continues to coordinate with Bank Indonesia through a triple intervention policy in the domestic spot market and non-delivery forward to maintain the stability of the rupiah exchange rate. He also mentioned that the benchmark interest rate BI Rate remains at 4.75 percent.
According to him, President Prabowo Subianto also directed that bilateral currency swap cooperation be continued with several countries, namely China, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea, and expanded to other countries.
In the energy and transportation sectors, Airlangga mentioned the adjustment of avtur prices through the government-borne VAT implementation of 11 percent for two months. He stated that this policy would prevent an increase in domestic airline ticket prices by around 9 to 13 percent.
He added that the impact of the avtur price increase on hajj costs will be borne by the government, so it will not add to the expenses of approximately 220,000 pilgrims. An amount of Rp1.77 trillion is said to be allocated from the state budget to cover these impacts.
