TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya oversaw the departure of three Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) aircraft carrying 31 tons of logistical aid for communities affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Monday, August 24, 2026.

"In accordance with the President's directive, all response efforts must be carried out swiftly and in an integrated manner," said Teddy, as quoted from a post on the official Instagram account of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base (@lanud_halim_perdanakusuma).

During the inspection, Teddy was accompanied by the Commander of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Air Commodore Ali Gusman.

The aid consisted of ready-to-eat meals, biscuits, wafers, protein bars, bread, and toys for children affected by the disaster.

The aid was transported using an Airbus A400M from Air Squadron 31 and a Boeing 737 from Air Squadron 17. The supplies were subsequently distributed via Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo and Frans Seda Airport in Maumere.

Teddy emphasized that the aid delivery was part of the government's efforts to ensure the immediate needs of affected communities were met following the disaster.

He stated that the government continues to strive for a rapid and integrated response, ensuring that aid is not merely dispatched but actually reaches and benefits the people in need.

"We are ensuring that the aid truly arrives and that its benefits are felt by the affected communities. They are not alone; we are here and standing with them," Teddy said.

Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base Commander Air Commodore Ali Gusman stated that his unit is ready to support all Indonesian Air Force flight operations related to disaster response and humanitarian aid distribution.

"Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base is ready to support the entire series of activities to ensure they proceed safely and smoothly," he emphasized.

The aid delivery is part of the synergy between the government and the Indonesian Air Force to accelerate disaster response and ensure that humanitarian aid promptly reaches the affected communities in NTT. A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region early Saturday, August 15, 2026. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) had issued a tsunami early warning, which was subsequently lifted at 07:30 WIB.

President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government is striving to provide the best possible assistance to the earthquake-affected communities in NTT by mobilizing relevant agencies to handle the situation on the ground.

"We want to ensure that our fellow citizens there receive swift and optimal emergency assistance," said Prabowo via his personal Instagram account, @prabowo, as monitored from Jakarta on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
