TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has proposed lowering the Hajj Travel Cost (BPIH) for the 2026 pilgrimage season by Rp1 million compared to this year.

Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said the government proposes that each 2026 pilgrim pay Rp54,924,000, down from Rp55,431,750 in 2025.

“Simply put, the Hajj Implementation Cost (BPIH) we are proposing is reduced by around Rp1 million from last year,” Dahnil said during a working meeting with House Commission VIII at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, October 27, 2025.

The ministry has set the total average BPIH at Rp88,409,365 per pilgrim. Of that amount, 62 percent, or roughly Rp54.9 million, will be covered directly by pilgrims, while the remaining 38 percent will come from the government’s optimization fund, returns generated from managing Hajj savings.

“For the 1447 Hijri or 2026 season, the government proposes an average BPIH of Rp88,409,365 per pilgrim, with Rp33,485,365, or 38 percent, financed through optimization benefits,” Dahnil said.

He explained that the cost adjustment was made with an emphasis on efficiency and effectiveness to maintain service quality while keeping expenses reasonable.

“The government prioritizes efficiency and effectiveness in determining the BPIH components so that the pilgrimage can be carried out properly at a fair cost,” he added.

  • Accommodation in Mecca: Rp14,652,000

  • Accommodation in Medina: Rp3,872,000
