TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government has confirmed that taxation and regional asset data remain safe following the fire at the Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) building on Jalan Abdul Muis, Petojo Selatan, Gambir, on Friday night, August 7, 2026.

"Jakarta's taxation data is confirmed safe because all data has been digitized and backed up on servers and data centers at separate locations, ensuring that tax services remain uninterrupted," said Bayu Meghantara, Head of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat), in Jakarta on Saturday.

The same applies to regional asset data managed by the Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD). All data and servers are housed in a data center separate from the Abdul Muis building, keeping them secure.

The Jakarta Bapenda technical agency building is insured. Approximately 1,000 civil servants (ASN) from various regional agencies—including Bapenda, BPAD, BPSDM, the Transportation Agency, Bank Jakarta, and Dekranasda—work in the building.

The Jakarta Provincial Government is currently arranging temporary work arrangements, including a rotating work-from-home (WFH) scheme, working from city-level agency offices, or utilizing other buildings owned by the provincial government.

The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to coordinate with the police to investigate the cause of the fire, ensuring that all response measures focus on maintaining uninterrupted public services.

"We also urge the public to remain vigilant due to the prolonged dry season caused by El Nino and to check the electrical installations in their homes," Bayu said.

The fire broke out at the Jakarta Bapenda building on Jalan Abdul Muis, Petojo Selatan, Gambir, on Friday night, August 7, at 21:40 WIB (Western Indonesian Time).

The Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency deployed 40 units and 200 personnel to extinguish the blaze.

There were no casualties in the incident. Fire and rescue teams successfully evacuated a worker from the 15th floor, bringing them to safety.

The Jakarta Metro Police also deployed 125 personnel to secure the area surrounding the fire at the Jakarta Bapenda building.

Additionally, the Central Jakarta Military District Command (Kodim 0501/Jakarta Pusat) deployed 50 personnel to secure the area around the scene.
