TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended the memorial service of former Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu at the Bhineka Tunggal Ika Building, Ministry of Defense, Jakarta on Monday, June 1, 2026. President Prabowo's presence at the Ministry of Defense was welcomed with a military honor trumpet fanfare.
He arrived around 08:30 AM, and directly arrived in front of the Bhineka Tunggal Ika Building which serves as the venue for the deceased. Prabowo appeared to be accompanied by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya, and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
Prior to Prabowo's arrival, several officials and other military figures were seen arriving first to pay their respects. Some of them were the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces General Agus Subiyanto, Defense Minister for the period of 2009-2014 Purnomo Yusgiantoro, and other top officials from the Ministry of Defense.
Ryamizard passed away on Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2026. The former Chief of the Indonesian Army Staff took his last breath at the age of 76 in the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Jakarta.
After being memorialized at the Ministry of Defense, Ryamizard's body will be buried with military honors at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, South Jakarta. The funeral ceremony will be led by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
Meanwhile, it is known that Prabowo will not participate in the funeral procession. The Chair of the Gerindra Party is scheduled to become the presiding officer for the National Pancasila Day ceremony at the Pancasila Building Field, Taman Pejambon Street, Jakarta, starting around 10:00 AM.
