TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is set to visit Indonesia at the end of this year, as revealed by the country's representative during their meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, met Prabowo at the Palace. According to the Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, the meeting also discussed the plan for the Emir of Qatar's visit to Indonesia at the end of 2026.
According to Teddy, the forthcoming state visit would commemorate the 50 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Qatar.
In the same meeting, Teddy claimed that Qatar is committed to expanding their investments in Indonesia in various sectors, worth US$4 billion.
President Prabowo had previously visited Qatar on September 12, 2025. At that time, Prabowo met the Emir of Qatar at the Lusail Palace in Doha, where he was welcomed directly by the country's top leader at the palace's outer hall.
Israel had just attacked Doha a few days prior to Prabowo's arrival. The Indonesian president expressed deep sympathy for the people affected by the incident while extending Indonesia's support for Qatar's sovereignty.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of international solidarity in responding to attacks that threaten regional stability.
In addition to discussing global security dynamics, President Prabowo and the Emir of Qatar also discussed global dynamics, including the escalation of conflict in the Middle East. President Prabowo emphasized the need for active roles of friendly nations in maintaining geopolitical balance and promoting international dialogues.
