TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The US ensures that Iran will be able to access fresh funds amounting to US$300 billion (around Rp5 quadrillion) for reconstruction costs if willing to comply with the terms of the Washington-Tehran peace agreement.
"That’s the sort of thing they could have access to, funded by the Gulf Coast Coalition, so long as they honor their end of the obligation," said US Vice President JD Vance to CBS News on Monday, June 15, 2026, as quoted by Antara, referring to Iran's claim that it could gain US$300 billion for the reconstruction process.
Vance also said the US does not object if Gulf countries choose to invest in the reconstruction process in Iran, as long as Tehran fulfills their commitments.
"We are absolutely open to the Gulf countries investing in the reconstruction of Iran, but only if Iran ends their nuclear program," Vance said.
Previously, the semi-official Iranian news agency, Mehr, quoted the peace deal between Iran and the US, stating that America and its allies are obliged to ensure efforts to restore Iran's economy worth at least US$300 billion.
Trump, however, denied this on Truth Social, stating that "the story that the U.S. is paying Iran 300 million Dollars is Fake News, put out by the [Democrats]!!!"
Electronic Signing of Peace Deal
The US and Iran have electronically signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at ending the war, as reported by US media on Monday, as cited by Antara.
The MoU was virtually signed by US President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, according to several reports.
The terms of the MoU are expected to be made public within the next 24 to 48 hours, as quoted from a senior US official.
The MoU is scheduled to be formally signed in Switzerland on June 19.
Earlier on Monday, Trump stated on his Truth Social account that oil tankers had begun to move out of the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump mentioned on Sunday that an agreement with Iran had been reached, shortly after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the news on the X social media platform.
The US and Israel launched a massive attack on Iran on February 28, killing Iran's then-Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. The attack triggered a regional conflict that changed the security landscape of the Middle East. Since then, the war has claimed thousands of lives and disrupted the global energy market.
