TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After five months of nearly constant use, the iPhone 17 is beginning to show its long-term usage characteristics. Tempo tested and examined the Apple device released in September 2025 to see how it holds up in daily routines.
From a display perspective, the visual experience remains one of the main advantages. The 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR panel with ProMotion 120Hz still feels smooth for daily activities, especially when scrolling through social media or switching between apps. The screen response remains fast, with animation transitions still seamless in normal usage.
However, unlike when it was new, the screen response when scrolling to read or copy text to the bottom of the page feels slower after a few months. Users may notice a brief pause that makes scrolling feel slower during certain activities.
This Apple phone leaves a positive impression regarding screen durability. The screen remains clean after five months without additional protection, such as tempered glass, thanks to the Ceramic Shield 2, which is claimed to be up to three times more scratch-resistant than the previous generation and reduces glare. Even after a few accidental drops, there is hardly any visible damage to the screen during normal usage.
In terms of performance, this device is powered by the A19 chip based on 3nm third-generation fabrication, bringing speed and power efficiency improvements. Even with daily use for social media and communication, there is no drop in system performance. Transitions between apps still feel smooth. For example, the Dynamic Island feature can be activated to display ongoing activities, such as music, voice recordings, downloads, or fitness app activities.
After almost half a year of usage, the Dynamic Island feature remains one of the most consistent elements. With real-time activity notifications, users don't need to constantly open apps because information such as the currently playing music or download speed is visible directly.

Significant changes, such as increased heat, are actually seen in the photography or long-duration video recording feature. Although not disruptive, the phone tends to heat up faster when used for heavy tasks like photography or video recording.
After five months of usage, the battery performance of the iPhone 17 remains stable. When checked in the settings, the battery health is recorded at 99 percent, with regular charging patterns. In accordance with the charging limit setting, the device charges to 20-30 percent and stops when it reaches 90 percent.
After five months of use, the iPhone 17 remains responsive, has a stable battery, and does not show any signs of weakened daily performance. There are only subtle changes in the scrolling experience and increased heat during heavy workloads, without disrupting the main functions for daily usage.
