TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Pertamina Patra Niaga supplied 92,901 liters of aviation fuel to an Emirates Airbus A380 for flight EK359 from Jakarta to Dubai at Soekarno-Hatta airport on Saturday, August 8.
Kitty Andhora, vice president of corporate communications at Pertamina Patra Niaga, said Monday the service demonstrated the company’s readiness to handle wide-body aircraft through its Soekarno-Hatta Aviation Fuel Terminal.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga successfully supplied 92,901 liters of aviation fuel safely and smoothly,” she said. Pertamina Patra Niaga is Indonesia's commercial and trading arm of state-owned energy holding company Pertamina.
Kitty said servicing an A380 requires adequate facilities, equipment, fuel availability and qualified personnel. “Serving an Airbus A380 is not only about fuel availability, but also ensuring the entire fueling system is ready. Safety remains our top priority,” she said.
To serve wide-body aircraft such as the A380, the Soekarno-Hatta terminal uses hydrant dispensers with flow rates of 2,500 to 4,000 liters per minute.
That capacity exceeds the 1,000 to 1,500 liters-per-minute rate of hydrant dispensers used for narrow-body aircraft with a single hose.
“With their large fuel requirements, wide-body aircraft need equipment with suitable fueling capacity. System, facility and personnel readiness are key to safe, optimal operations,” Kitty said.
Pertamina Patra Niaga also ensures Jet A-1 quality through quality controls and strict procedures to maintain fuel quality and traceability.
“Safety and fuel quality cannot be compromised. Serving the A380 reflects our commitment to reliability and operational excellence at Soekarno-Hatta,” Kitty said.
