TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After less than a month of discussion, the House of Representatives finally ratified the bill on the Indonesia International Financial Center (PFII) into law. The bill was ratified during a plenary session today, Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
During the meeting, the deputy chair of Commission XI from the Gerindra Faction, who is also the chair of the PFII Bill Working Committee, Mohamad Hekal, said a number of fundamental provisions regarding the financial centers have been approved. These include institutional arrangements and special courts, as well as a series of offered incentives.
"We express our gratitude for the various constructive views from all factions in Commission XI, the government, and stakeholders involved in meaningful participation," he said in the DPR plenary session in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
Following the presentation, House Speaker Puan Maharani asked all factions and attending members of the council whether they agreed to ratify the PFII Bill, which responded in a unanimous agreement.
The new law gives way for Indonesia to have international financial centers designed to attract global investments.
Representing the government, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa also presented the final opinion on behalf of President Prabowo Subianto. According to him, the PFII will not replace the existing domestic financial system but complement it with an integrated world-class ecosystem.
The PFII Bill Working Committee was established on July 2.
For a week, from July 8 to 16, 2026, the working committee conducted intensive discussions with various stakeholders before finalizing the draft on Monday morning.
The PFII Bill was completed and ratified in today's session, consisting of 10 chapters and 73 articles.
