TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Boyolali Police in Central Java uncovered an alleged fraud scheme disguised as a procurement project for the Red-and-White Cooperative with estimated losses of Rp1.2 billion. In the disclosure of the case, the police arrested at least five people suspected of being part of a fraud syndicate related to the procurement project for the Red-and-White Village Cooperative.
Boyolali Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Indra Maulana Saputra stated that the case came to light after they received a report from a resident identified as S. The victim claimed that he was offered a procurement project with the Red-and-White Village Cooperative, promising big profits.
"We immediately followed up on the victim's report. The Criminal Investigation Unit then conducted an investigation and managed to apprehend five perpetrators in Jakarta," said Indra during a press conference at the Boyolali Police headquarters on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The five suspects, with the initials WW, APP, JA, RAJ, and HW alias Prabu, were arrested in the Jakarta area after the police conducted a series of investigations and pursuits within less than two months of receiving the report.
The case began in March 2026 when the victim met with the suspects in the Cilandak area, South Jakarta. The meeting then continued at the victim's house in Boyolali. The police stated that all meetings were never held at the PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara official office.
During the process, the victim was asked to hand over money gradually under the pretext of operational funds and lubrication money to ensure the project would start immediately. "The total amount of money handed over by the victim to the perpetrators reached Rp1.2 billion," revealed Indra.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Boyolali Police, Police Commissioner Indrawan Wira Saputra, added that the suspects had different roles in carrying out their actions. WW and APP were responsible for finding victims and funders, while JA controlled both. Meanwhile, RAJ acted as a liaison between HW alias Prabu and JA.
"Of these five suspects, it is known that the mastermind behind this chain of events is HW alias Prabu," said Indrawan.
According to him, the perpetrators used a modus operandi by claiming to have relations with PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. To convince the victim, they brought fake documents complete with the company's stamp. The documents were found to have been made at a photocopy rental place. "The suspects used PT Agrinas' name, and that was used as a modus operandi to defraud the victim," said Indrawan.
The police seized a black Honda Accord that is suspected to have been purchased with some of the fraud proceeds. The vehicle was known to have been used by HW alias Prabu. "The car we seized is the result of the crime committed by HW, where some of the money was used to buy the car," said Indrawan.
The police have coordinated with PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara and confirmed that the five suspects are not employees of the company. Currently, all the suspects are being held at the Boyolali Police headquarters for further legal proceedings. The police are still investigating the possibility of other victims and tracing the flow of the proceeds of the crime.
