Prabowo Says All Indonesians Are Shareholders of National Wealth

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto stated that all Indonesian citizens are shareholders of the nation's wealth. Prabowo stated that Indonesia stands on the principle of familyhood.

He expressed this thought while attending the inauguration of the Mother Marsinah Museum and Shelter in Nganjuk, East Java.

In his speech, Prabowo referred to the fifth principle of Pancasila which emphasizes "social justice for all Indonesian people," as well as Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution which forms the constitutional basis of Indonesia's economic system.

Prabowo stated that he wants to affirm the concept of Indonesia as a family state by upholding Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. He then invited entrepreneurs to be part of "Indonesia Incorporated."

"Indonesia Incorporated essentially means a family state. So, this entire nation is one corporation. This means that all Indonesian citizens are shareholders in the entire national wealth," said Prabowo in Nganjuk on Saturday, May 16, 2026, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube broadcast.

The Chairman of the Gerindra Party emphasized that all leaders in every layer of society are responsible for fighting for the people's rights to the nation's wealth.

"Not the other way around. Not leaders, not officials, not those who are elected, colluding to deprive the people of their rights to the entire wealth of Indonesia. Brothers and sisters, this is our joint struggle," said Prabowo.

On this occasion, Prabowo also mentioned that the murder of Marsinah involved collusion between state officials and capitalists. Marsinah was a labor activist who was killed for advocating the rights of workers at PT Catur Surya Putra (CPS) in Sidoarjo, East Java.

While in Marsinah's hometown, Prabowo recalled the events of her murder which occurred in 1993. "I was young at that time, I heard about the events in East Java, but I did not delve into it," said Prabowo.

Prabowo was 41 years old when the kidnapping and murder of Marsinah occurred. That year, he served in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (ABRI) as the commander of Grup 3/Sandhi Yudha Komando Pasukan Khusus or Kopassus.

Now, decades after Marsinah's death, Prabowo said he understands what happened. "Finally today, I am just aware, I understand. Collusion, state officials being used by certain capitalists," he said.

The former Minister of Defense during Joko Widodo's administration mentioned the collusion of capitalists with state officials has become a culture in Indonesia. He wants this culture to be stopped immediately.

Every state official, Prabowo said, must live and die for the people. "All officials, from the highest to the lowest, must die for the people, not oppress the people," he said.
