Following a series of individual tournaments, including the 2026 Asian Championships, the Red and White squad is entering a pivotal phase of the global badminton calendar. Their status as runners-up in the previous edition serves as both a foundation and a source of pressure to reclaim the title.

According to Antara, the draw has placed the Indonesian men’s team in Group D alongside Thailand, France, and Algeria. Meanwhile, the women’s team will compete in Group C against Taiwan, Canada, and Australia. Under the round-robin format, the top two teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinals.

Indonesia faces a rigorous schedule from the opening day. The men’s team begins its campaign against Algeria on April 24, 2026, at 11:30 p.m. Jakarta time (WIB)—a match that, on paper, offers a prime opportunity to secure an opening point. The next challenge follows against Thailand on April 26 at 1:30 p.m. WIB, before closing the group stage against France on April 28 at 11:30 p.m. WIB.

In the women’s sector, Indonesia starts its journey against Canada on April 25 at 5:00 p.m. WIB. The action continues against Australia on April 26 at 11:30 p.m. WIB, leading up to a potentially decisive clash against Taiwan on April 28 at 3:00 p.m. WIB.

The team composition reflects a blend of seasoned experience and fresh talent. In the men’s singles, Indonesia continues to rely on Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, bolstered by rising stars Alwi Farhan and Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah.

In the doubles category, the pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri remains the backbone of the squad.
