TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has officially introduced the Redmi 17 4G, an entry-level smartphone packed with a 7,500 mAh battery, to the Indonesian market. The local launch took place on Thursday, August 20, following the device's global debut in early August.
“We are introducing our latest smartphone, which can last up to four days of usage without needing to be charged,” said Abee Hakim, Head of PR at Xiaomi Indonesia, during a hands-on session for the Redmi 17 in Jakarta on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
The battery is capable of driving continuous audio playback for up to 91 hours or video playback for up to 28 hours, according to company claims. The Redmi 17 supports 45 W Fast Charging alongside 22.5 W reverse wired charging, allowing the device to serve as an emergency power bank.
The device sports a 6.9-inch display featuring a 120 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 800 nits. For photography, the Redmi 17 carries a 50 MP AI Dual Camera alongside a Dual Video mode that lets users record with both front and rear cameras at the same time.
The Redmi 17 is also equipped with interactive RGB lighting on its rear panel that functions as an active charging indicator. The indicator glows red when battery levels sit between 0 and 20 percent, turns yellow-orange between 20 and 50 percent, shifts to green between 50 and 99 percent, and stays fully illuminated once charging reaches 100 percent.
In terms of durability, the Redmi 17 is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass protection and an IP64 rating for dust and water splash resistance. Xiaomi guarantees up to six years of security updates and four major Android operating system upgrades.
Initial sales of the Redmi 17 in Indonesia kick off on August 21, 2026, across Xiaomi's official online and offline retail channels. The phone comes in three memory configurations: the 4/128 GB variant priced at Rp2,899,000, the 6/128 GB model at Rp3,299,000, and the top-tier 6/256 GB version at Rp3,849,000.
