TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Advertised to be the biggest in history yet, the FIFA World Cup is set to make a grand comeback this summer. All 48 teams from across the world are poised to convene on pitches, showcasing their top-notch talent. Now only months away, when exactly is the FIFA World Cup 2026? Here’s the official schedule released by FIFA. 

When is the FIFA World Cup 2026?

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19, opening in Mexico City with a Group A match between Mexico and South Africa.

Expanding to a 48-team format, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature 12 groups of four and a total of 104 matches, marking a significant increase from previous editions. At the conclusion of the group stage, the top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed sides, will advance to the knockout rounds.

From there, the competition enters its decisive phase, progressing through the round of 32 (June 28–July 3) and round of 16 (July 4–7), before moving into the quarterfinals from July 9 to 11. The semifinals will follow on July 14 and 15, hosted at AT&T Stadium in Arlington and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will then reach its climax, with the third-place playoff scheduled for July 18 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, ahead of the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
