TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Indonesian President Joko Widodo did not attend the Pancasila Day Commemoration Ceremony held at Pancasila Building, Central Jakarta, on Monday, June 1, 2026. While the ceremony was taking place, Jokowi was spotted in Solo, Central Java.
Since Monday morning, Jokowi was seen taking pictures with several residents who visited his residence in Gang Kutai 1, Sumber Village, Banjarsari Sub-district, Solo. The activity continued until Monday afternoon.
Jokowi also expressed his condolences for the passing of former Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu to reporters during a brief interview amid his activities.
During these activities, Jokowi's aide, Police Grand Commissioner Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, stated that Jokowi did not attend the ceremony because he did not receive any invitation from the organizers.
"Until this morning, we have not received any invitation for Bapak Joko Widodo to attend the Pancasila Day Commemoration Ceremony, neither in the form of an official letter nor any other communication," Syarif said in a brief message when asked to confirm Jokowi's absence at the Pancasila Day Commemoration Ceremony in Jakarta today.
According to Syarif, Jokowi chose to continue his usual activities in Solo because no invitation was received. "Therefore, he did not attend the event," said Syarif.
The Pancasila Day commemoration ceremony held at Pancasila Building Field in Jakarta was attended by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The Head of State arrived at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs complex around 09:36 AM and used the white Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine.
Prabowo's assistants in the Red and White Cabinet arrived before 09:00 AM. Among those present were Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto; Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan; Staff Chief of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) General Maruli Simanjuntak.
In addition, former presidents and vice presidents also attended the ceremony today, including the 5th President Megawati Soekarnoputri, the 10th and 12th Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla, and the 13th Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.
Pancasila Day 2026 carries the theme "Pancasila as the Unifying Principle of the Nation, the Foundation of World Peace." The theme emphasizes the relevance of Pancasila's values in maintaining national unity and promoting world peace.
Prabowo, as the inspector, entered the ceremony field around 09:55 AM. In this ceremony, the Chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani read the Pancasila text, and the Chairperson of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin read the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution.
