Landslide Hits Bandung Rail Line, KAI Cancels Trips and Offers Refunds

2 hours ago 1

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operations Area (Daop) 2 Bandung has cancelled a number of train services and is offering full refunds to passengers after a landslide disrupted railway operations in the Maswati–Sasaksaat section of West Bandung on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

KAI spokesperson Kuswardojo said the disruption occurred after the Ciremai train was trapped due to a landslide that blocked the main track. The incident also caused the locomotive to derail, further hampering operations along the vital route connecting Bandung with Jakarta and Cirebon.

“As a result of this incident, several train trips in the Daop 2 Bandung area were cancelled,” he said in a statement.

Trains experiencing full cancellations include Parahyangan services (134B, 139B, and 140B). Meanwhile, partial cancellations affected several others, including the Ciremai (173B and 174B), Harina (102), Papandayan (129B), Serayu (288–289), and Garut Commuter Line (349 and 350).

To minimize disruption, KAI deployed buses to transport affected passengers to their destinations. “Passengers who wish to continue their journey can use the buses we have provided,” Kuswardojo said.

KAI is also offering a 100 percent refund for all affected passengers. “Those impacted by cancellations can request a full refund of the ticket fare,” he added, as quoted by Antara, describing the policy as part of the company’s responsibility following the disruption.

Despite the incident, Kuswardojo confirmed that all passengers and crew aboard the affected Ciremai train were safe, with no casualties reported.

“All affected passengers have been successfully transported to their destination stations using alternative transportation,” he said.

KAI personnel are currently working to clear landslide debris and repair the damaged track. However, ongoing rain in the area continues to pose challenges to the recovery process.

Technical teams remain on standby at the site to accelerate normalization efforts. “We are working to complete repairs as soon as possible so train operations can return to normal,” Kuswardojo said.

As of now, there are no plans to cancel train services for Thursday, April 2, although KAI continues to monitor conditions closely while restoration work is underway.
