
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta early Thursday morning, after completing his tour of two East Asian countries: Japan and South Korea.
The Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying President Prabowo and a limited entourage, including Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, landed at approximately 12:01 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) after departing from Seongnam Military Air Base in Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday evening (April 1).
On the apron of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, right at the head of the aircraft's steps, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka stood to welcome President Prabowo home. Gibran, wearing a black suit and a matching skullcap, was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) M. Herindra.
Prabowo immediately greeted each of the officials welcoming him, starting with Vice President Gibran, then Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo, the TNI Commander, the National Police Chief, and the Head of BIN. The President then greeted the officials in the back row, namely Garuda Indonesia President Director Glenny Kairupan, and the Commander of the Presidential Security Forces (Danpaspampres), Major General Edwin Adrian Sumantha.
President Prabowo briefly chatted with the Garuda Indonesia President Director. Afterward, the President immediately entered the Maung Garuda presidential car and left Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base.
Shortly afterward, Vice President Gibran also left the air base, followed by other officials.
President Prabowo began his visit to Japan from March 29, 2026, to March 31, 2026. In Tokyo, President Prabowo met for the first time with Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace, then held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and met with representatives of Indonesian and Japanese businesspeople.
During his visit to Japan, President Prabowo also witnessed the signing of several strategic cooperation agreements between Indonesian and Japanese businesses, totaling US$23.63 billion (approximately Rp380 trillion).
After completing all official agendas in Japan, President Prabowo continued his overseas visit to Seoul, South Korea. In Seoul, President Prabowo held a bilateral meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the Blue House in Seoul on Wednesday morning local time.
During a state visit to the Blue House, President Prabowo and President Lee agreed to enhance cooperation between the two countries in several sectors, including the economy, defense, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The two also witnessed the signing of 10 memorandums of understanding (MoUs), including the establishment of a special comprehensive strategic dialogue, economic cooperation 2.0, critical minerals partnerships, digital development, and cooperation in artificial intelligence for basic health and human development.
Furthermore, cooperation in the clean energy sector, carbon capture and storage (CCS), the offshore power generation services industry, the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, and financial cooperation between Danantara and Exim Bank of Korea.
