TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A total of 8,095 security personnel have been deployed to secure President Prabowo Subianto’s state address at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, August 14, 2026.

The security operation began with a roll call at 5:30 a.m. local time. Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Commissioner Reynold E. P. Hutagalung said the personnel were deployed to ensure the event runs safely and smoothly.

“The deployment is intended to ensure that the entire series of the President’s state address proceeds safely, orderly, and smoothly,” Reynold said on Friday, August 14.

The personnel have been stationed at several locations around Senayan to anticipate potential security disruptions. Reynold said authorities were adopting a humane and persuasive approach to maintaining security.

Police are also managing traffic and monitoring several roads leading to the DPR/MPR Complex to prevent disruptions.

“We urge the public to follow the instructions of officers in the field for everyone’s safety and to ensure the event runs smoothly,” Reynold said in a written statement.

Prabowo to Deliver Two Speeches

Prabowo is scheduled to deliver two speeches before Parliament on Friday.

His first speech will take place during the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR). He will present a report on the government's performance and deliver a state address marking Indonesia's 81st Independence Day.

Prabowo will then address a plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR), where he is scheduled to present the government's 2027 Draft State Budget (RAPBN) along with its financial note.

He will deliver the government's introductory speech on the proposed 2027 budget.

The first session is scheduled to end shortly before 11 a.m. local time. Proceedings will then pause for Friday prayers before the second session resumes at around 2:30 p.m.

The second session is expected to conclude at around 4 p.m. with the signing of the official minutes.

Annual Session Moved Forward

DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said the annual session is traditionally held on August 16, a day before Indonesia's Independence Day. However, because August 16 falls on a weekend this year, the session was moved to Friday, the last working day before the August 17 national holiday.

Puan also said lawmakers would reflect on the previous annual session, when they faced strong public criticism after being seen dancing following Prabowo's speech.

“This year, it will be more solemn. We will be more mindful so that we can remain focused on participating in the state event,” Puan said on Wednesday, August 12.
