TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will meet with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace. The official state visit will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
Lukashenko arrived in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. He was greeted by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta.
Sjafrie shared the moment on his Instagram account, saying, "I, on behalf of the President of Indonesia, welcome the arrival of the President of the Republic of Belarus H.E. Alexander Lukashenko at the Base Ops of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta on Wednesday, July 1, 2026," said Sjafrie.
Sjafrie conveyed that Lukashenko's presence in Indonesia is an important moment to strengthen the friendship between the two countries. "At the same time, it opens up room for strengthening strategic cooperation that respects and contributes to the progress of both nations," he said.
In Sjafrie's post, the son of President Lukashenko, Dmitry Lukashenko, was seen welcoming his father's arrival. Dmitry had arrived in Jakarta earlier and had a meeting with Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman.
President Prabowo had previously visited the capital of Belarus, Minsk, on July 15, 2025. At that time, Prabowo also visited President Lukashenko's residence in Ozyorny, located outside the capital Minsk.
Their meeting last year lasted for nearly three hours. President Prabowo became the second head of state after Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit President Lukashenko's home post-renovation.
"After this house was restored, you are the second guest after President Putin. Previously, even before the renovation, President Xi Jinping had also visited here with his family," Lukashenko said in welcoming President Prabowo.
They discussed various strategic issues, including opportunities for cooperation in the trade sector, commodities, and fertilizer supply. President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, inviting President Lukashenko to visit Indonesia again.
"Thank you, Your Excellency. It is a great honor for me to be welcomed to your home. I also hope Your Excellency can visit Indonesia in the near future," Prabowo said at that time.
