TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) stated on Monday morning, March 30, 2026, that one peacekeeper was killed and another was severely injured after a projectile exploded on Sunday night at one of its positions in southern Lebanon.
The forces reported that the explosion occurred near Adshit al-Qusayr in the Marjayoun district.
"We do not know the origin of the projectile. We have launched an investigation to determine all of the circumstances," they said on the US social media platform, X, as quoted by Anadolu.
According to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA), the Israeli artillery shelling targeted the headquarters of the Indonesian contingent serving with the UN forces in Adshit al-Qusayr.
It was added that the deliberate attack on peacekeepers constitutes a "grave violations of international humanitarian law and of Security Council Resolution 1701" and could be considered a war crime.
