TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono has noted that fewer than 10 Red-and-White Cooperative outlets were established in suboptimal locations. "That is a small percentage," Ferry said at the Ministry of Cooperatives office in Jakarta on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
He explained that the identification of these poorly situated outlets followed up on public complaints, including those voiced on social media. Ferry stated that the number of misplaced cooperative outlets remains relatively small compared to the 30,000 locations currently active.
The Gerindra Party politician explained that the site selection for the Red-and-White Village Cooperatives resulted from government verification, which was then finalized through consultations between the community and the village chief. "We will find a solution if any location is deemed inadequate," he said.
Data from the Red-and-White Village and Neighborhood Cooperative Management Information System shows that a total of 38,045 plots of land were proposed as cooperative building locations as of Thursday, July 2, 2026. Of these submissions, 2,171 plots remain unverified.
Meanwhile, as of the same date, 35,874 plots have been verified. This figure comprises 512 undeveloped plots and 20,706 locations currently under construction. Out of this total, 14,656 village cooperative outlets have been completed.
