Prabowo to Attend 80th Police Anniversary Celebrations on July 1

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to lead the ceremony of the 80th National Police anniversary, also known as Bhayangkara Day, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The celebrations will be held at the Mobile Brigade Corps Training Unit of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java.

The Head of Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, confirmed that President Prabowo will lead the ceremony. "The 80th Anniversary ceremony of Bhayangkara Day will be led by the Indonesian President, Bapak Prabowo Subianto, as the Inspector of the ceremony and will be attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka," Johnny said on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Johnny said ministry officials and agency heads as well as relevant stakeholders are also listed as guests invited to the ceremony.

In the list of event sequences seen by Tempo, it is noted that the series of Bhayangkara Day activities will begin around 07:00 a.m. Jakarta time, which includes the ceremony, the bestowal of honors, parades, and a thanksgiving event.

On Thursday, June 25, 2026, President Prabowo had summoned the Polri Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. During the meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on that day, Sigit presented the police's preparations to welcome the commemoration of Bhayangkara Day in 2026.

Preparations include various social and community service activities nationwide. "The National Police Chief conveyed the police readiness to soon organize a series of events to commemorate Bhayangkara Day in 2026," said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya last Thursday.

Bhayangkara Day is commemorated every July 1, marking the moment when the police forces scattered across various regions of Indonesia were unified into a national entity on July 1, 1946, after the country's independence.

Teddy stated that the police will organize community service activities as part of this year's Bhayangkara Day commemoration. He claimed that social activities are also a part of the police's efforts to strengthen its raport with the citizens.
