TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) notes that from March 13 to 21, 2026, a total of 4.41 million passengers passed through the 37 InJourney Airports. This number increased by 3.7 percent from last year's numbers, when 4.25 million passengers traveled through the airport.
InJourney Airports CEO, Mohammad Rizal Pahlevi, stated that the highest number of passengers occurred on the peak of the exodus on March 18, 2026, reaching 568,964. "Meanwhile, on the day of Eid al-Fitr, March 21, 2026, the number of passengers recorded was 397,670," Rizal said on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Rizal mentioned that there was also an increase in the number of flights. From March 13 to 21, 2026, 33,099 flights took off, a 6 percent increase from the 31,240 flights in the previous year.
"The increase in the number of passengers and flights can be managed effectively by all airports," he said.
He ensured that the exodus went well. In general, operational aspects and services during the exodus period were well-maintained. Rizal stated that this was due to well-planned operations, support from all parties, and collaboration among airport stakeholders.
"One form of collaboration is that airports can optimize slot time or the availability of takeoff and landing times, to accommodate the demand for air travel during the peak season of the Eid transportation," Rizal said.
According to Rizal, the optimization of slot time was supported by a high realization of extra flights. Throughout March 13-21, 2026, InJourney Airports received about 2,500 extra flight requests from airlines. Approximately 2,000 extra flights were realized out of the total requests, accounting for 80 percent.
This figure is quite high, as generally, the realization of extra flights by airlines ranges from 60 to 70 percent of the requests."This indicates growing demand for the Eid transportation, as well as good collaboration among all airport stakeholders," Rizal said.
InJourney Airports noted that the 5 busiest airports during this exodus were Soekarno-Hatta Tangerang (1.51 million passengers), I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali (523,944 passengers), Juanda Surabaya (378,056 passengers), Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar (283,099 passengers), and Kualanamu Deli Serdang (207,661 passengers).
