TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Manpower Minister Yassierli, alongside Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, officially launched Phase I of the National Internship Program (MagangHub) Batch II, featuring 46,160 participants, at the Ministry of Manpower in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 11.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), today we are kicking off Phase I of the National Internship Program Batch II," Yassierli told a press briefing following the program's launch at the Ministry of Manpower headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Yassierli explained that this initial phase of Batch II aims for up to 50,000 participants out of an overall target of 150,000 for the 2026 National Internship Program.

As part of the initiative, he noted that interns will be equipped with soft skills through digital modules. "There will also be online soft skills training programs provided for them," Yassierli said.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the National Internship Program serves as a key component of the government's broader economic stimulus package.

Yassierli expressed confidence that the program will assist industries in addressing manpower needs while helping young professionals secure employment. "So, this supports industry while helping our younger generation boost their purchasing power nationwide," Yassierli said.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, who attended the ceremony, stated that the second year of the National Internship Program is targeted to recruit 150,000 participants overall.

"Currently, the first 50,000 of the 150,000 participants are being initiated. The second and third groups of 50,000 will be opened by the Ministry of Manpower next month in September and in the following months," Teddy said.

The Manpower Ministry designated 46,160 university graduates as participants in Phase I of the 2026 National Internship Program Batch II. The selected candidates completed various evaluation stages, from an initial applicant pool of 732,483 registrants.

Following registration, prospective interns underwent administrative verification, application screening, and formal selection. "The Manpower Ministry conducted a selection process through a plenary session, determining that 46,160 individuals passed to become official participants in Phase I of the 2026 National Internship Program Batch II," said Darmawansyah, Director General of Vocational Training and Productivity Development (Binalavotas) at the Manpower Ministry.
