TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi emphasized that Saudi Arabia remains safe for Indonesians planning to perform the Umrah or Hajj pilgrimage amid the recent escalation between the United States (US) and Iran.

Met at his residence in Jakarta on Monday evening, Ambassador Al Amoudi stated that security conditions in Saudi Arabia remain stable and that prospective pilgrims from Indonesia need not worry.

"Alhamdulillah (praise to God), Saudi Arabia is stable, both in the past, present, and future. It is 100 percent safe for Saudi citizens, residents of Saudi Arabia, and visitors," he said.

Responding to a question about the concerns of Indonesians planning to perform the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage, Ambassador Al Amoudi emphasized that there is no reason for prospective pilgrims to worry.

"They don't need to worry. Alhamdulillah (praise to God), Saudi Arabia is very safe," he said.

He also stated that air connectivity between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia remains normal. According to him, Saudia operates five direct flights daily from Indonesia to Saudi Arabia, in addition to other airlines that serve the route to Jeddah via transit.

"Everything is going well in Saudi Arabia," he said.

The ambassador added that relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have now developed into a strategic partnership in various sectors, including transportation and logistics.

He assessed that both countries are committed to continuing to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level through various forms of cooperation.

Tensions in the region have escalated in recent days amid tit-for-tat attacks between United States and Iranian forces.

On Sunday, Iran announced it had launched attacks on US military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, and Oman in retaliation for US attacks on several Iranian targets.

Meanwhile, United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the latest attacks were aimed at further weakening what they described as Iran's ability to attack civilian sailors and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
