TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cristiano Ronaldo added another chapter to his legendary career after breaking multiple records during Portugal's 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan in Group K of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday, June 24.

The 41-year-old captain scored twice at Houston Stadium, helping Portugal secure a crucial win while reaching several historic milestones on football's biggest stage.

Here are three milestones Ronaldo reached in the match, according to FIFA data cited by Antara.

1. First Player to Score in Six Different World Cups

Ronaldo's opening goal in the sixth minute made him the first player in football history to score in six separate editions of the FIFA World Cup.

The Portugal star has now found the net in the 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2026 tournaments, extending a record that reflects both his longevity and consistency at the highest level of international football.

According to FIFA, no other player has managed to score across six different World Cup editions.

2. Second-Oldest Goalscorer in World Cup History

At 41 years old, Ronaldo also became the second-oldest player ever to score at a World Cup.

FIFA said the Portuguese forward trails only Denmark legend Michael Laudrup on the all-time list of oldest goalscorers in the tournament's history.

The achievement highlights Ronaldo's ability to remain competitive at the elite level more than two decades after making his international debut.

FIFA noted that Ronaldo now joins an exclusive group of players, including Laudrup and Argentina's Lionel Messi, who have become both the youngest and oldest goalscorers for their respective countries at the World Cup.

3. Portugal's All-Time Leading World Cup Scorer

Ronaldo's two goals against Uzbekistan also saw him surpass Portuguese legend Eusebio as Portugal's top scorer in World Cup history.

The brace took his World Cup tally to 10 goals, moving him ahead of Eusebio's previous record of nine.

Already Portugal's all-time leading scorer at international level, Ronaldo has now added another national record to his long list of achievements.

What the Result Means for Portugal

The victory kept Portugal firmly in contention for a place in the knockout stage.

Roberto Martinez's side currently sits second in Group K with four points from two matches, two points behind group leader Colombia, which has already secured qualification for the next round.

Portugal will face Colombia in its final Group K match at Miami Stadium on Sunday. The result will determine whether Ronaldo and his teammates advance as group winners or runners-up.
