TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said any adjustment to the Jakarta LRT fare will be decided after the operation of Phase 1B, which connects the Velodrome and Manggarai stations. The new route is scheduled to begin operations in August 2026.
"Regarding the fare, it will certainly be managed professionally. Whatever the fare will be, it will be decided later," Pramono said during an inspection of the progress of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B development at LRT Jakarta Rawamangun Station, East Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Pramono said the Jakarta provincial government is currently discussing the fare adjustment with relevant parties involved in the development of the Jakarta LRT system.
He added that the Jakarta MRT fare could become a reference in determining the new LRT fare. According to Pramono, the extension of the LRT route to Dukuh Atas is being funded through the Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD).
"After we complete the recalculation of the subsidy amount that will be provided to the public, as well as the fare level allowed by the Jakarta provincial government, we will make a decision," he said.
Pramono emphasized that the fare policy must take into account residents’ purchasing power and ensure public accessibility.
"The ticket price must remain affordable for the public," he said.
The Jakarta LRT Phase 1B project extends the existing Velodrome-Kelapa Gading route toward Manggarai, creating a new transportation connection between East Jakarta and one of the capital’s major transit hubs. The expansion is expected to improve public transportation access and encourage greater use of mass transit in Jakarta.
